I don't know how many of you moms find yourself in my position but I thought I'd see who else knows what I mean. Goals! We all have them and they seem never ending! For instance...here are a few of mine. 1: Lose this weight after being pregnant. 2: Potty train Brett by the end of the summer. 3: Organize a house cleaning schedule. 4: Get the flower garden started. 5: Organize the garage...and the list goes on. The trouble is more goals just keep rolling in. Save for a bed...blah, blah, blah. Having the goals doesn't upset me, it's getting them started and finished. I'd love to do them but as you know life can get in the way. Just the day to day living brings all kinds of surprises that can keep me from getting things done. I'm not really stressed about it. I understand that I can't control everything. Having said that...I say this. Some days I would just love to be able to devote my whole day to the house or the yard or something that won't get mad or cry at me no matter how I do it. I never thought I could be critiqued and criticized so often by my kids...even Jack. I love them dearly, but feel like I work from 5am til 8pm and never do anything well. I know they are kids and that is life but it gets to a person after a while. And as a stay at home mom who doesn't hear much from other adults...you can start to believe all there complaints are valid.
Life at home is not all bad. I do set my own schedule and I don't always have to fight traffic, etc. But like I said, I do have goals and I pray I can reach some of them this year. Especially since the year is half over. I have reached one goal of mine. That is to find new books that I like, and a girlfriend of mine suggested the Twilight series and I like them. I hope this makes some of you feel that you aren't the only one confused at home with the kids.
Just to give a short update of what is going on in the Hatcher home I can recap the last month or so. Brett is potty training and doing well most days. Isaak is now 4 going on 30 and still talking. He's like the energizer bunny. Jack has started sleeping 5-7 hour stretches after his evening feeding and that has been helping me so much. With Isaak and Brett I was up ever 1-2 hours the first 6months of there lives. Longer for Isaak since he had reflux. We have been in our house now for a year and I am ready to start getting the place fixed up to feel more like home. I hope to get started on that after the boys start school in August. I'll let you know how that goal goes. Danny is still working in Decatur and getting busier everyday. He travels still but he is actually going to home on our anniversary for the first time since our first year anniversary. This will be our fifth year anniversary. If I've left anything out I'm sure I'll catch you up in the next post.
